      HRCU WEEKLY UPDATE: ISSUE NO.22 OF 2021   THE HUMAN RIGHTS CENTRE UGANDA (HRCU) WEEKLY UPDATE ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND KEY EMERGING ISSUES WITHIN THE HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS' WORKING ENVIRONMENT ISSUE NO.22 of 2021 |The Week of 7 June- June 13, 2021   The Human Rights Centre Uganda (HRCU) wishes to extend congratulations to Ugandans upon celebrating Heroes Day.  National Heroes' Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Uganda observed on June 9th.  The day commemorates those who lost their lives in the Ugandan Bush War (1981 - 1986).  In 2001, an act was passed in the Parliament of Uganda which recognised the June 9th as Heroes' Day in remembrance of those who contributed to the liberation struggle that ushered in the National Resistance Movement government on January 26th 1986.
